Wizards 98, Trail Blazers 95: Jordan Crawford drained a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give visiting Washington a dramatic victory while extending Portland’s losing streak to a season-worst six games.
Martell Webster scored a season-best 24 points and Nene also tallied 24 as the Wizards won for the fifth time in seven games following a 4-28 start.
Damian Lillard scored 18 points, LaMarcus Aldridge added 17 points and 12 rebounds and Wesley Matthews also had 17 points for the Trail Blazers.
Crawford tallied just 13 points but swished the 31-footer from the left wing as time expired. Washington had blown a five-point lead in the final minute before Crawford hit his third 3-pointer of the contest.
Washington led 87-80 after Emeka Okafor’s 15-footer with 5:48 remaining, but Portland rallied back within one. Baskets by Webster and John Wall gave the Wizards a 95-90 lead with 58.8 seconds left. Matthews hit a 3-pointer with 7.9 seconds to go to tie the score.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Okafor had 13 points and 13 rebounds for the Wizards. … Portland has dropped four consecutive home games to drop to 13-8 at the Rose Garden. The Wizards are 3-17 on the road. … Nene had 19 first-half points, but Washington trailed 51-50 at the break.
