GRIZZLIES 105, CLIPPERS 98: Rudy Gay scored 21 points to lead six players in double figures as host Memphis evened its playoff series with Los Angeles at one game apiece.

O.J. Mayo scored 10 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter, including the Grizzlies' only two 3-pointers of the game, as Memphis bounced back from a devastating Game 1 loss in which it blew a 27-point lead.

Mike Conley added 19 points and Zach Randolph had 15 and eight rebounds as Memphis used a dominant 16-4 edge on the offensive glass to withstand a scorching shooting display by the Clippers, who connected on 38 of 67 (56.7 percent) from the floor.

Chris Paul scored 29 points and Blake Griffin added 22 for the Clippers, who still managed to steal home-court advantage as the series heads to Los Angeles for Game 3 on Saturday afternoon.

Memphis opened a nine-point edge early in the fourth quarter but Paul's four-point play whittled the deficit to 83-79 with eight minutes to play.

Mayo answered with another 3-pointer and Randolph converted a three-point play to give the Grizzlies their biggest lead at 95-84 with four and a half minutes to play.

Memphis, getting 10 third-quarter points from Gay, led 75-69 entering the final 12 minutes.

The momentum of the stirring Game 1 comeback appeared to have a carry-over effect for the Clippers, who shot nearly 65 percent in the first quarter to take a 26-23 lead.

Memphis turned the tide in the second quarter, controlling the backboards and getting a combined 12 points from reserves Mayo and Marreese Speights to lead by as many as six points before going to the locker room with a 51-47 halftime advantage.

Paul scored 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting in the first half for Los Angeles, which shot 54.3 percent before the break. Memphis countered with a balanced attack, getting between six and eight points from seven players.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Memphis made 18 consecutive free throws and finished 31 of 39 from the line ... Clippers F Caron Butler, who broke the fifth metacarpal in his left hand in the series opener, is scheduled to see a specialist Thursday when the team returns to Los Angeles. He is expected to be sidelined for four to six weeks. Bobby Simmons, who didn't play in Game 1, started in Butler's place ... The Grizzlies buried a season-high 11 3-pointers in Game 1, but made just 2 of 12 Wednesday ... Clippers G Mo Williams hurt his right hand in the fourth quarter. He had seven points in the first five minutes of the quarter.
