WIZARDS 121, BUCKS 112: Jordan Crawford scored 32 points and hit a key 3-pointer in the final minute as host Washington put a big dent in Milwaukee’s playoff hopes.
John Wall added 14 points and 10 assists and Kevin Seraphin and Nene also had 14 points apiece for the Wizards, who are closing strong with wins in four of their last six games.
Milwaukee dropped 2 1/2 games behind the Philadelphia 76ers for the No. 8 spot in the Eastern Conference.
The Bucks held a 62-60 lead at the half but could not keep up that pace as Washington tightened its defense after the break. Milwaukee missed its first two shots and committed a pair of turnovers to begin the third quarter as the Wizards took advantage.
Washington began the frame with a 17-6 burst and ended up taking an 88-81 lead into the fourth.
Nene’s layup with 7:50 left pushed the lead to 99-87 before the Bucks began to fight back. Brandon Jennings scored four points during a 9-1 run over the next 2:30. They would draw as close as 112-109 on Jennings’ 3-pointer with 1:14 left but Crawford responded with his own 3-pointer and the Wizards sealed it at the line.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Monta Ellis scored 31 points and Jennings finished with 25 to lead Milwaukee. … The Bucks have allowed an average of 111.5 points in their last four losses. … The Wizards will try for their first three-game winning streak of the season at Miami on Saturday.
