Jeff Teague matched his career high with 24 points and Willie Green had a season-best 16 to help the Atlanta Hawks register a 94-72 victory over the host New Orleans Hornets on Sunday.
Marvin Williams scored 14 points as Atlanta jumped out to a 21-point first-quarter lead and reasserted control in the third quarter while winning for the 11th time in 14 games.
Teague hit 9 of 11 shots, including all four of his 3-point attempts. Green also made four 3-pointers for Atlanta, which hit 12 of 23 from behind the arc.
Emeka Okafor had 13 points and eight rebounds for New Orleans, which has lost 16 of its last 18 games.
New Orleans trailed 52-46 after Jarrett Jack’s 3-pointer with 7:05 left in third quarter but missed its final nine field-goal attempts in the quarter and first two of the final quarter.
Meanwhile, Atlanta finished the third quarter on a 23-4 run to take a 76-52 advantage. The lead reached 29 points on Tracy McGrady’s basket with 7:43 to play.
Jack and Greivis Vasquez had 10 points apiece for New Orleans, which shot just 37.5 percent.
Atlanta led 27-6 with less than three minutes to go in the first quarter before New Orleans went on a 20-6 surge to pull within 33-26 on Okafor’s three-point play with 5:48 left in the half.
