LaMarcus Aldridge and Wesley Matthews scored 28 points apiece as the host Portland Trail Blazers notched a 108-93 victory to cool down the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday.
The Portland duo upstaged the Clippers’ tandem of Eric Gordon and Blake Griffin as the Trail Blazers (24-20) rebounded from an early 16-2 deficit to win their fourth straight game.
The loss ended a three-game winning streak for the Clippers and was just the fifth defeat in 16 games for Los Angeles (16-26).
Gordon scored 35 points and made seven 3-point shots and Griffin started a new double-double streak with 20 points while matching a season-high with 18 rebounds. Griffin had 27 consecutive double-doubles before grabbing just eight rebounds against Minnesota on Wednesday.
Rudy Fernandez scored 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting and Andre Miller had 15 points for Portland, which shot 56.4 percent from the field.
The Clippers trailed by 11 with under eight minutes to play before Gordon hit two 3s during an 8-0 run that pulled Los Angeles with 90-87. Portland responded by outscoring Los Angeles 18-6 over the final six-plus minutes.
Baron Davis added 16 points for Los Angeles, which dropped to 3-13 on the road.
