Kevin Durant return from a two-game injury absence with 28 points and eight rebounds as the Oklahoma City Thunder survived a Minnesota Timberwolves rally for a 117-107 win on Monday.
Jeff Green, who had missed seven of the last eight games with an ankle sprain, returned as well and added 24 points and Russell Westbrook chipped in 20 points and 14 assists for the Thunder, who have won five straight.
Oklahoma City looked like it was in charge with a 90-81 lead heading into the final quarter. But the Timberwolves had other ideas, ripping off a 15-3 spurt over the first four minutes of the period and taking the lead on Luke Ridnour’s 3-pointer with 8:52 to play.
Minnesota stretched it to 101-95 when Darko Milicic converted a three-point play with 6:41 on the clock, but the Thunder battled back, retaking a 104-103 lead on Thabo Sefolosha’s jumper at the 3:13 mark.
Kevin Love gave the Timberwolves the lead again when he grabbed an offensive rebound and put it back in to make it 105-104 with 1:20 left, but Green drained a 3-pointer on the next possession to put Oklahoma City back on top for good.
Love finished with 24 points and 17 boards for Minnesota.
