Stephen Jackson and D.J. Augustin combined for five 3-pointers in the fourth quarter as the host Charlotte Bobcats held off the Denver Nuggets, 100-98, on Tuesday and denied coach George Karl his 1,000th victory.
Denver's Chauncey Billups, who scored 25 points, had a chance to the game but missed a jumper with two seconds left. The Nuggets had a seven-game winning streak snapped.
Jackson had 23 points, nine rebounds and seven assists for the Bobcats (8-13), who have won three straight at home.
Augustin, who had 18 points and six assists, hit consecutive 3-pointers in the fourth quarter. The first put Charlotte ahead for good, 86-83, with 6:41 to go.
Gerald Wallace had 20 points, nine rebounds and five assists for the Bobcats, who led by 11 in the first half and nine in the third quarter before falling behind in the final period.
Carmelo Anthony had 22 points and seven rebounds for the Nuggets (13-7). Anthony is 22-of-72 from the field (30.6 percent) in his last four games.
Wallace had 17 points and five rebounds in the first half, including a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give the Bobcats a 52-47 lead.
