Roy Hibbert tied a career high with 29 points and Josh McRoberts converted a go-ahead follow shot with 1:21 left as the Indiana Pacers kept up their solid play under interim coach Frank Vogel with a 104-103 victory over the visiting Charlotte Bobcats on Wednesday.
Charlotte had a chance to tie, but Gerald Wallace split two free throws. After Darren Collison missed a runner in the lane with seven seconds left, Charlotte rebounded but didn’t call timeout and former Pacer Stephen Jackson appeared to get fouled as he heaved a 35-footer at the buzzer, but no foul was called.
Hibbert shot 12-of-19 and added 10 rebounds in notching his fourth 20-plus scoring game in his last eight contests.
Danny Granger added 25 points for the Pacers, who improved to 5-1 under Vogel and 3-0 against Charlotte this season.
Jackson scored 27 points and Wallace added 22 for the Bobcats, who entered the contest in a virtual tie for the eighth and final playoff spot in the East with the Pacers.
Indiana led by as many as 15 points in the third quarter and seven with just three minutes left before Jackson scored five points during a 7-0 spurt that tied it.
