Tayshaun Prince led the way with 28 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists as the Detroit Pistons edged the visiting New Orleans Hornets in overtime, 111-108, on Sunday.
Ben Gordon added 25 points and Will Bynum scored 21 off the bench for the Pistons, who shot 53 percent from the floor.
New Orleans took control in the second quarter, ending the frame on a 10-2 run to take a 51-41 lead into the break.
Detroit jumped back into it in the third when Gordon drained a pair of 3-pointers and Charlie Villanueva added another on its first three possessions. The Hornets regrouped and refused to surrender the lead, keeping it to 78-72 heading into the final 12 minutes.
New Orleans held on to a small lead through most of the fourth until Gordon drained a deep 3-pointer with 24 seconds left to knot it at 100-100. Chris Paul had a chance to win it at the end of regulation but had his layup attempt was blocked by Prince.
Bynum gave the Pistons the lead in overtime on a layup with seven seconds left.
David West finished with 32 points and Paul added 23 and 10 assists for New Orleans.
