Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook combined for 23 of the Thunder’s 25 points in the third quarter and Oklahoma City improved to 19-6 against the East with an easy 95-75 victory at the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday.
Westbrook had 20 points, Durant had 19 and Serge Ibaka had 14 rebounds and seven blocks for Oklahoma City, which has won six of its last seven.
The Thunder’s 20-point first-half lead was sliced to 10 with 8:26 left in the third when Kevin Durant hit a 3-pointer, then turned to the Thunder bench and clapped emphatically in trying to reawaken his teammates.
Westbrook responded by scoring the team’s next 12 points, starting the run with a powerful two-handed dunk through three Cavs defenders and following it up with five easy layups. The tandem scored the team’s final 19 points of the quarter to take a 75-56 lead into the fourth.
Daniel Gibson had a team-high 13 points off the bench for the Cavs and Samardo Samuels had 10 points and 10 rebounds. J.J. Hickson had 15 rebounds for the Cavs, who averaged just 76 points in their two losses to the Thunder this season.
