Nick Young led the way with 29 points while Andray Blatche added 17 points and 13 rebounds as the host Washington Wizards held off the Toronto Raptors, 98-95, on Saturday.
Rashard Lewis chipped in 13 points for the Wizards, who improved to 11-8 at home this season against their 0-19 mark on the road.
Washington used a 10-2 burst closing the second quarter to take a 47-42 edge into the break. The Raptors bounced right back in the third to grab the lead with a 9-2 spurt to open the frame and trading it back and forth. That is until the Wizards once again ended the quarter strong, getting 3-pointers from Young and Lewis to push it to 75-67 going into the final 12 minutes.
Toronto fought through to tie it one more time at 79 when Ed Davis converted a three-point play with 8:10 left, but Washington would not surrender the lead, going back up on Kirk Hinrich’s jumper and holding off the Raptors down the stretch.
Andrea Bargnani finished with 25 points, and Jose Calderon added 21 and 15 assists for Toronto.
