The Boston Celtics jumped out to a 26-point lead after one quarter and rolled to an easy 99-76 win over the Atlanta Hawks on Monday night.
The visiting Celtics, who had lost their previous two games, left no doubt about the outcome. Boston led 13-3 and increased the margin to 20-5, forcing Atlanta coach Larry Drew to call a timeout.
The Celtics increased the lead to 33-12 and were ahead 39-13 when the quarter ended. The 26-point margin was the biggest after one quarter in Celtics history. Boston (10-4) led 64-42 at halftime.
The big margin made it an easy for Boston's starters, who spent most of the night on the bench.
Kevin Garnett, who played only 24 minutes, led Boston with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Nate Robinson, who started at point guard in place of the injured Rajon Rondo, added 16 points in 30 minutes.
Paul Pierce scored 13 points in 27 minutes while Shaquille O'Neal scored 13 points in 21 minutes. Ray Allen played only 26 minutes and scored nine points.
Mike Bibby was the only Atlanta starter in double figures with 11 points. The other Hawks starters, Joe Johnson, Josh Smith, Marvin Williams and Al Horford, combined to score 16 points.
Jamal Crawford, Jordan Crawford and Josh Powell scored 10 points apiece for Atlanta (8-6).
Rondo, who leads the league in assists, missed his second straight game with a strained left hamstring.
