Sean Marcum allowed just one run over seven innings of work to lead the Toronto Blue Jays to a 5-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday.
The Blue Jays scored a run in each of the first three innings to take a 3-1 lead. Vernon Wells drove in his 84th run of the year in the first with an RBI single, John McDonald added a sac fly in the second and Lyle Overbay knocked in a run in the third with an RBI double.
That’s the way it stood until MacDonald plated a couple more runs with a single in the bottom of the sixth.
Designated hitter Adam Lind was 3-for-4 at the plate for Toronto.
Marcum (13-8) gave up just four hits while striking out seven and walking two on 102 pitches. Jason Frasor worked the ninth for his fourth save of the season.
Orioles starter Rick VandenHurk (0-1) was pulled after four innings, allowing three runs on four hits while striking out five and walking two.
Baltimore center fielder Adam Jones was 3-for-4 at the plate and had an RBI single in the eighth inning. Matt Wieters drove in the other Orioles run with a sac fly in the second.
