Patrick Mahomes threw five touchdown passes and Kansas City defeated the host Philadelphia Eagles 42-30 on Sunday for Andy Reid's 100th victory as head coach of the Chiefs.

Reid is the first coach in NFL history to win at least 100 games for two different teams (Eagles). He is 93-39 in the regular season and 7-6 in the postseason since taking over in Kansas City in 2013.

The Chiefs (2-2) had not won a game by more than six points since Week 8 of last season (35-9 over the New York Jets).

Mahomes completed 24 of 30 passes for 278 yards with one interception. Tyreek Hill had 11 catches for 186 yards and three scores and Clyde Edwards-Helaire rushed for 102 yards and caught a TD pass.

Jalen Hurts was 32-of-48 passing for 387 yards and two touchdowns for the Eagles (1-3), who lost their third straight game.

The Eagles took the opening kickoff and zoomed down the field but stalled at the 11-yard line and settled for a 29-yard Jake Elliott field goal.

The Chiefs responded with an eight-play, 77-yard touchdown drive. Mahomes threw a 1-yard underhand pass to Edwards-Helaire for the score, set up by a 36-yard pass from Mahomes to Hill. Originally ruled a touchdown, the ball was placed inside the 1.

The Eagles used an up-tempo drive to retake the lead, including converting on fourth-and-2 from the Kansas City 20. Hurts hit Dallas Goedert for a 3-yard touchdown. Mahomes found Hill for a 6-yard touchdown on the next drive to help the Chiefs regain the lead.

Hurts had an interception overturned by review on the next drive, and the Eagles converted with another Elliott field goal to get within 14-13.

Once again, the Chiefs responded with a score. On second-and-goal, Mahomes and Travis Kelce appeared to on different pages as the ball was snapped, but Mahomes side-armed the ball to Jody Fortson for a 2-yard touchdown. Mahomes had three first-half touchdowns, but only one was thrown overhand.

Mahomes tossed his fourth interception of the season in the third quarter and the Eagles converted it to another field goal. The Chiefs followed with an 11-play drive that covered 75 yards. Darrel Williams punched it in from the 1.

Kenneth Gainwell's 7-yard touchdown run brought the Eagles to within 28-23 with 12:42 left in regulation.

But the Chiefs used 5:58 of the clock to extend the lead to 35-23 on a Mahomes-to-Hill 12-yard touchdown.

Mahomes then found Hill for 44 yards for Kansas City's final score.
