Alex Killorn punched a wrist shot for a game-winner 48 seconds into overtime and the Anaheim Ducks knocked off the Florida Panthers 5-4 on Monday afternoon in Sunrise, Fla.
Killorn scored two goals and Frank Vatrano, who spent parts of five seasons with the Panthers, earned his second assist of the night on the deciding score. Goaltender John Gibson made 29 saves to earn the victory.
Sam Bennett scored twice for the Panthers. All-Star Sam Reinhart tallied a goal for the seventh consecutive game, but Florida dropped its second game in a row on the heels of a nine-game winning streak.
Anaheim had lost nine of its previous 11 games (2-8-1). The Ducks received goals from Adam Henrique, Jakob Silfverberg and Troy Terry. Henrique also had an assist.
Reinhart leads the Panthers with 32 goals and is second in the NHL behind only Toronto's Auston Matthews (33).
The Panthers also got one goal and one assist from Carter Verhaeghe.
Florida backup goalie Anthony Stolarz was in net and made 21 saves against the Ducks, the team with which he spent parts of the past four seasons.
Bennett scored with 14 seconds left in on a first-period power play, slipping a wrist shot under Gibson's left arm at 8:29 for a 1-0 Panthers lead.
With Florida short-handed, a Josh Mahura hit caused Terry to cough up the puck. Niko Mikkola pounced on it for the Panthers and raced up the ice before feathering a pass to Reinhart for a 2-0 lead at 17:35 of the first.
Killorn scored on a breakaway with two seconds left in the opening period. Henrique earned the primary assist with a short pass to spring Killorn.
The Ducks tied it up with 14:36 left in the second on Henrique's short-handed goal, assisted by Vatrano.
Florida put up the next two goals to grab a 4-2 lead. Verhaeghe found the net on a power play and Bennett scored off a great Matthew Tkachuk pass.
Anaheim netted consecutive goals for the second time in the game to tie the score. Silfverberg stripped Mahura of the puck and beat Stolarz five-hole at 14:58 of the second.
With 16:15 left in the third, Terry made up for his previous mistake, roofing a backhander to tie the game at 4.
