Flyers 7, Lightning 3: Defenseman Mark Streit scored once and set up two others during a five-goal second period as host Philadelphia avoided being swept in the three-game season series.
Brayden Schenn, Chris VandeVelde and All-Star Jakub Voracek each recorded a goal and an assist for the Flyers, who completed a 3-1-0 homestand. R.J. Umberger, Pierre-Edouard Bellemare and Michael Raffl also scored, captain Claude Giroux celebrated his 27th birthday with two assists and Rob Zepp made 21 saves to win for the second time in as many career starts.
Captain Steven Stamkos, Brian Boyle and Ryan Callahan scored for the Eastern Conference-leading Lightning, who had their three-game overall winning streak and six-game run versus the Flyers snapped. Evgeni Nabokov allowed four goals on 13 shots before being relieved by Ben Bishop, who finished with nine saves.
VandeVelde and Stamkos traded goals in the first 10:26 of the opening period before Umberger began a string of six straight goals for Philadelphia with a backhander from the right side of the crease with 3:45 left in the session. Voracek beat Nabokov with a one-timer from the top of the right faceoff circle during a power play 1:45 into the second and Bellemare made it 4-1 with a redirection in front 51 seconds later.
Schenn set up Streit with a cross-slot pass from the left circle for a man-advantage score at 7:02 before beating Bishop from the right circle 1:35 later during a 5-on-3 power play. Raffl buried a rebound on the doorstep at 15:01 before Boyle snapped the Flyers' run 22 seconds afterward.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Philadelphia D Braydon Coburn and Tampa Bay D Victor Hedman each suffered a lower-body injury in the first period and sat out the final two sessions while Lightning All-Star C Tyler Johnson went down with a similar ailment midway through the second. ... Tampa Bay went 2-for-3 on the power play while the Flyers were 3-for-4, giving them a man-advantage goal in five consecutive games overall and 11 of their last 13 at home. ... Bellemare's goal ended his 28-game drought.
