Luke Adam scored two goals within a 2 1/2-minute span early in the second period to spark the Buffalo Sabres to a 4-2 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday in Berlin.
Ryan Miller turned aside 31 shots and Paul Gaustad and Drew Stafford added goals as the Sabres continued their impressive start in the first NHL regular-season game to be played in Germany.
Thomas Vanek and Nathan Gerbe had two assists apiece as Buffalo improved to 6-1-1 in its last eight against the Kings and completed its two-game overseas swing by outscoring the opposition 8-3.
The 21-year-old Adam, who is coming off his first career multi-point game in Friday's 4-1 win over Anaheim, had his first two-goal effort in staking the Sabres to a 2-0 lead five minutes into the second period.
Vanek assisted on both tallies to give him five points in the two games and make it easy for Miller to move to 4-0-1 in his last five against Los Angeles.
Anze Kopitar scored the first of his two goals, a power-play tally with 39 seconds left in the second period to send the Kings into the intermission trailing 3-1.
That momentum was short-lived when Stafford banged home a rebound of Gerbe's shot for a 4-1 cushion at 3:58 of the final period before Kopitar cut the deficit in half with a backhander with 4:14 to play.
Backup Jonathan Bernier stopped 22 shots in allowing four goals to the Sabres for the second time in as many starts against them.
