Sophomore point guard Devon Dotson recorded 22 points and nine assists Tuesday, helping Kansas race to a 19-point lead before six minutes had elapsed as the No. 2 Jayhawks thumped Milwaukee, 95-68, at Lawrence, Kan.
Dotson, the Big 12's leading scorer with a 19.1-point average, posted 17 first-half points as Kansas opened a 30-point lead before settling for a 52-27 halftime bulge.
The Jayhawks (8-1) made 5 of 8 shots from 3-point range during the early surge to a 19-point lead, including three treys by sophomore guard Ochai Agbaji by the 17:49 mark.
Kansas came in shooting 52 percent to rank fourth nationally before finishing with a 54.2 percent clip. The win was the Jayhawks' 300th this decade, enabling them to join Gonzaga (304) as the only Division I programs to crack that barrier in games played from 2010-19.
In addition, the victory was the 26th in a row for Kansas on its homecourt. The Jayhawks have won eight straight since falling in their opener against Duke at the Champions Classic.
Senior center Udoka Azubuike added 15 points on 7-for-7 shooting and grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds, his third double-double and the 11th of his injury-plagued Kansas career. The Jayhawks forged a 45-27 advantage on the glass.
Agbaji added 22 points.
Milwaukee (5-5), which was picked seventh in the Horizon League, had lost by six or fewer points in each of its other defeats. The Panthers started 0-for-7 from the field before 6-foot-10 junior Harrison Henderson connected from deep at the 15:08 mark of the first half.
Senior guard Darius Roy netted 15 of the Panthers' first-half points and five of the nine field goals they made while shooting 30 percent as a team. Roy finished with a game-high 25 but Milwaukee finished 36.4 percent from the field.
Milwaukee's best segment came when it opened the second half with a 7-1 run, prompting Kansas coach Bill Self to call a timeout with 17:17 left. The Jayhawks outscored the Panthers by only 43-41 in the second half.
