Pittsburgh 68, Providence 64: Lamar Patterson scored 17 points and the visiting Panthers held off a late comeback to notch their third consecutive victory.
Tray Woodall, Talib Zanna and J.J. Moore scored nine points apiece and James Robinson hit a pair of clinching free throws with 9.4 seconds to play as Pittsburgh (16-4, 4-3 Big East) had nine players score in the final regular-season league matchup between the schools.
Bryce Cotton scored 24 points and Kadeem Batts added 17 and nine rebounds for Providence (10-9, 2-5), which lost for the seventh time in nine games.
The Panthers, who led by as many as 12 points in the first half, were ahead by 10 before Batts scored eight straight points for the Friars, who cut the deficit to 51-49 on LaDontae Henton's 3-pointer with just over 7 1/2 minutes left.
Moore buried a 3-pointer to extend Pittsburgh's lead to 63-53 with 2:27 remaining, but the Friars charged back and sliced the deficit to two on Cotton's 3-pointer with 14 seconds to play before Robinson sealed it.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Panthers shot 51 percent from the floor and 57.1 from 3-point range, but finished 12-of-21 from the free-throw line. ... Cotton, who entered as the leading scorer in the Big East, had 13 points at the half on 5-of-6 shooting. The rest of his team went 6-for-21 in the half. ... The Panthers have won four straight and 12 of 13 in the series.
