TENNESSEE 77, ARKANSAS 58: The Volunteers made nine of their first 10 shots from the floor en route to their fourth straight victory and kept the Razorbacks winless in road games this season.
Jordan McRae’s 14 points led six players in double figures as Tennessee (14-12, 6-5 SEC) won for the fifth time in six games and pulled into a tie with No. 23 Mississippi State for fourth place in the conference.
It has been an impressive turnaround for the Volunteers, who got off to a 1-3 start in SEC play and suffered disappointing non-conference losses to the likes of Oakland, College of Charleston and Austin Peay.
B.J. Young scored 18 points for the Razorbacks (17-9, 5-6), who went on a 14-0 run that bridged the halftime break and got as close as 11 points at one juncture of the second half before Tennessee pulled away.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Arkansas has allowed more than 70 points in each of its six conference road games. … Tennessee announced just before the game that forward Kenny Hall had been suspended indefinitely. Jarnell Stokes started in Hall’s place. … Arkansas, which was leading the SEC in turnover margin, committed 18 miscues. … All five starters for the Volunteers scored in double figures. Trae Golden had 13 points, Skylar McBee and Jeronne Maymon each had 12, Cam Tatum scored 11 and Stokes contributed 10.
