Giants 8, Diamondbacks 5: Angel Pagan went 3-for-5 and belted a three-run homer to cap a five-run eighth inning as visiting San Francisco took three out of four from Arizona.
Brandon Belt hit his third home run, Brandon Hicks added a pinch-hit blast and Hector Sanchez knocked in two runs for the Giants. Jean Machi (2-0) recorded the last out in the seventh while Santiago Casilla retired all five batters he faced after Tim Lincecum yielded four runs, eight hits and struck out seven in six frames.
Mark Trumbo and Paul Goldschmidt hit two-run homers with Goldschmidt extending his hitting streak to 25 games, while Aaron Hill had thee hits and an RBI for Arizona, which fell to 1-5. Will Harris (0-1) was charged with all five runs in the eighth after Bronson Arroyo yielded two runs and five hits in 4 1/3 innings in his Diamondbacks debut.
Belt, who entered 4-for-7 with a home run against Arroyo, crushed a 3-2 offering into the Giants bullpen in right with two outs in the first. Goldschmidt, who entered 10-for-20 with five homers against Lincecum, answered in the bottom half when he drove the first pitch he saw out to the pool area in right-center for a two-run shot.
Hunter Pence walked with one out in the eighth and scored on Sanchez's double and, after pinch hitter Buster Posey was walked intentionally with two outs, Michael Morse delivered an RBI single to make it 5-5. Pagan crushed the next pitch into the pool area to complete the Giants second comeback of the series.
GAME NOTEBOOK: A large group of bees settled in deep center field at the start of the game and Pagan - the first batter - sent Arizona's A.J. Pollock into the swarm to make a running catch. The game was briefly delayed before the umpires determined it was safe to continue, and the bees were not a factor for the remainder of the game. ... Goldschmidt, who is 11-for-26 this season, owns the second-longest hitting in club history, trailing Luis Gonzalez (30 games in 1999). ... Pence snapped an 0-for-13 start to the season with a single in the fourth inning.
