White Sox 4, Tigers 3 (11): Alejandro De Aza hit a walk-off single in the 11th inning as host Chicago downed Detroit for the second straight night.

After Addison Reed (5-1) tossed a pair of scoreless frames, Avisail Garcia opened the 11th with a walk and Jeff Keppinger reached on a sacrifice bunt off Jeremy Bonderman (2-4). Following a groundout by Jordan Danks that allowed each runner to move up a base, Tyler Flowers drew a walk to load the bases.

Phil Coke came on in relief before De Aza ended it with his second hit, giving the White Sox their first back-to-back wins against Detroit in eight series. Omar Infante and Brayan Pena had three hits apiece for the Tigers, who lost for the fourth time in five games and saw their lead in the American League Central drop to six games over Cleveland.

Infante’s second-inning RBI single gave Detroit an early lead before Chicago answered in the fourth as Gordon Beckham was hit by a pitch and Alexei Ramirez drew a walk. Two batters later, Garcia sliced a triple down the right-field line and advanced home when Infante’s relay throw rolled under third baseman Miguel Cabrera’s glove.

Pena knotted the game over his next two at-bats, following his run-scoring groundout in the sixth with another grounder that snuck under the glove of Beckham at second and scored Don Kelly in the eighth.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Detroit’s Max Scherzer, who allowed three runs (two earned) and four hits over six innings, was bidding to become the first Tigers’ pitcher to win 18 games in his first 24 starts since Denny McLain did it in 23 during his 1968 Cy Young Award-winning season. … Chicago starter Hector Santiago yielded two runs (one earned) on six hits and four walks, but only threw 61 of his 102 pitches for strikes over five frames and is winless over his last nine outings. … Ramirez finished 2-for-4 and is batting .391 during his 10-game hitting streak.
