Angels 9, Mariners 1: Kendrys Morales continued to torment Seattle, belting a three-run homer and driving in four runs to power visiting Los Angeles to its fourth straight win.
Torii Hunter went 4-for-5 with an RBI double and Dan Haren pitched seven strong innings as the Angels won for the eighth time in 10 games to remain 3 1/2 games behind Baltimore for the second wild card spot.
Haren (9-10) halted a four-start winless streak, allowing one run on five hits and retiring 12 straight at one point to improve to 12-6 lifetime against the Mariners.
Albert Pujols had a pair of hits and an RBI to extend his hitting streak to nine games as Los Angeles won for the sixth straight time at Safeco Field. Mike Trout scored three times to set a franchise rookie record for runs scored. He has 106 runs in 109 games.
Morales staked Haren and the Angels to an early 3-0 lead with the first-inning blast - his 18th and sixth homer in 10 games against Seattle this season. Bobby Wilson hit a two-run shot in the ninth to make it 9-1.
Kevin Millwood (4-12) lasted five innings, giving up five runs - four earned - on nine hits. The veteran threw 117 pitches and fell to 1-8 in his last 17 starts.
John Jaso had a first-inning RBI single for the Mariners, who lost for only the fifth time in 16 games.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The loss dropped Millwood's record to 12-31 over the last three seasons. ... Angels 2B Howie Kendrick was not in the starting lineup after leaving Thursday's game with a sore knee. ... Mariners RF Michael Saunders came out of the game in the bottom of the fourth after appearing to pull up when making a catch in the top of the inning. He was playing in his first game since suffering a groin injury on Aug. 24. ... Angels LHP Scott Downs will be activated from the bereavement list Saturday. ... Los Angeles sent INF Frazier Hall to the Arizona Diamondbacks to compete the trade for RHP Barry Enright.
