Reds 5, Giants 1: Zack Cozart homered as part of a three-run first inning and Mike Leake pitched his first career complete game as the visiting Reds snapped the Giants’ streak of four consecutive shutout wins.

Cozart hit the first pitch of the game over the left-field fence off Matt Cain (9-3), ending the Giants’ scoreless inning streak at 36 innings.

Drew Stubbs followed with a walk and reached third on Joey Votto’s double. After Brandon Phillips popped out, Jay Bruce extended the Reds’ lead with a two-run double.

Leake (3-5) hit a solo homer in the sixth and worked around nine hits while throwing 76 of his 111 pitches for strikes. The Reds snapped a four-game losing streak and remained one game ahead of Pittsburgh in the NL Central.

Bruce matched a career high with four hits, including an RBI double in the seventh that knocked out Cain, who lost for the first time in his last 11 starts. Cain allowed five runs on 11 hits over 6 2/3 innings.

Pablo Sandoval hit a solo homer in the ninth for just the Giants’ 14th home run at AT&T Park this year.

Votto went 3-for-4, and his 33rd double set a new franchise record for the first half of the season.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Reds 2B Brandon Phillips went 1-for-4 after missing Thursday’s game with a mild concussion. …The Giants’ four consecutive shutouts was a franchise record. ... The Giants purchased the contract of Brad Penny from Triple-A Fresno and placed reliever Shane Loux on the disabled list. Penny will be used in long to middle relief. … Leake is batting .357 with two home runs this season.
