Indians 4, Athletics 3: Jack Hannahan remained hot with three RBIs and visiting Cleveland snapped Oakland's three-game winning streak.
Ubaldo Jimenez (2-0) allowed two runs on six hits over six innings for Cleveland, which has won seven of its last eight games.
Oakland’s Josh Reddick tied the game at one with his fifth home run in the third inning, but Cleveland answered in the fourth inning with Hannahan’s two-run double.
The Indians grabbed a 4-1 lead in the top of the fifth on Shin-Soo Choo's RBI single off Graham Godfrey (0-3), who threw 93 pitches over five innings, giving up four runs on three hits and five walks.
Yoenis Cespedes went 3-for-4 and helped Oakland stay close with RBI singles in the fifth and eighth innings.
Chris Perez worked a scoreless ninth inning for his fifth save and second in as many games.
Hannahan, who delivered a game-winning two-run single against Seattle on Thursday, is hitting .324 with one homer and 11 RBIs after batting .250 last season.
