Rangers 5, White Sox 0:
Texas got home runs from David Murphy, Adrian Beltre and Josh Hamilton, and starter Matt Harrison pitched six shutout innings as the defending American League champions took the rubber match of a three-game home series against Chicago.

Harrison (1-0), who scattered four hits and two walks, needed 103 pitches to get through the sixth, but he managed to keep the White Sox off the board. The left-hander caught a break in the fourth when Paul Konerko grounded a ball back to the mound with Gordon Beckham on third base, enabling Harrison to throw him out at the plate. Chicago also stranded a runner on third in the fifth inning.

Murphy put the Rangers on top when he led off the third inning with a home run to right against Gavin Floyd (0-1), and Beltre stretched the margin to 3-0 an inning later, following Hamilton’s leadoff single with a two-run shot.

Hamilton then opened the sixth with a 441-foot poke into the upper deck in right-center field.

Floyd surrendered five runs on five hits in 5 2/3 innings, striking out three and walking two.

Murphy, Beltre and Hamilton accounted for all of the Rangers’ six hits, collecting two apiece.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Texas has won seven consecutive Sunday games dating back to last season. ... The Rangers have also won Harrison’s last six Sunday starts. ... Chicago 3B Eduardo Escobar tripled in the fifth inning, his first extra-base hit in the major leagues. ... Hamilton is 8-for-13 in his career against Floyd.
