Marlins 3, Mets 2: Rob Brantly’s eighth-inning double snapped a 2-2 tie as host Miami won for only the third time in its past 14 games.
Down 2-0, the Marlins rallied behind Giancarlo Stanton’s 37th homer leading off the sixth and a Jose Reyes sacrifice fly in the seventh that scored Austin Kearns to tie the game.
Carlos Lee walked leading off the eighth and moved to second on a wild pitch by Ramon Ramirez (3-4). Brantly followed with a double to left. Heath Bell (4-5) pitched a scoreless eighth inning and Steve Cishek worked the ninth to earn his 15th save.
New York’s David Wright singled home pinch-hitter Ronny Cedeno to break a scoreless tie in the fifth. The Mets added a run in the sixth on Mike Baxter’s pinch-hit double to right, scoring Kelly Shoppach.
The Mets started highly touted pitching prospect Jeurys Familia, who allowed only one hit but walked six in four innings. Miami starter Wade LeBlanc lasted five innings, giving up one run (unearned) on seven hits with two walks and two strikeouts.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Wright, Murphy and Jason Bay each finished with two hits for New York. … Miami LF Bryan Petersen threw out New York’s Ike Davis at the plate in the second inning. … Miami CF Gorkys Hernandez finished 3-for-3 with a triple.
