Marlins 4, Mets 2: John Buck ripped an opposite-field two-run double to highlight a four-run fourth inning as Miami handed New York its eighth straight home defeat.
Former Met Jose Reyes extended his hitting streak to a career-high 25 games with an infield single in the fourth inning. Carlos Lee increased his hitting streak to 12 games with an RBI single and Giancarlo Stanton added a run-scoring sacrifice fly.
Buck then capped the uprising by depositing a first-pitch curveball from Jonathon Niese (8-6) into the right-field corner. Lee and Austin Kearns came around to score to give Miami a 4-0 lead.
Carlos Zambrano (7-9) pitched 1 1/3 innings of relief to pick up the win.
Andres Torres had an infield single in the third inning to extend his hitting streak to a career-high 12 games. Daniel Murphy led off the fifth inning with a homer and Torres added a two-out single, but the Mets were handcuffed the rest of the way. Steve Cishek struck out a pair in the ninth inning for his seventh save.
Niese fell to 1-5 in his career versus the Marlins after permitting four runs on eight hits in six innings. He has recorded 12 straight starts of working through at least six frames
