Marlins 5, Giants 3: Mark Buehrle worked into the eighth inning and Logan Morrison drove in two runs as host Florida improved to 18-7 in May.
Buehrle (5-4) tossed 7 1/3 innings, giving up two runs on eight hits with no walks and three strikeouts. Miami closer Heath Bell was pulled for the second straight game after loading the bases with one out in the ninth inning. Randy Choate retired the only two batters he faced for his first save and the 10th of his career.
The Marlins broke a 1-1 tie with three runs in the third inning off Madison Bumgarner (5-4), who allowed five runs (four earned) with seven strikeouts over six innings.
Hanley Ramirez keyed the three-run inning when he singled in Jose Reyes and later scored when Emmanuel Burriss committed an error on Morrison’s grounder.
Miami, which improved to 5-1 against the Giants this season, extended its lead to 5-1 in the sixth inning on Morrison’s RBI double.
The Giants cut into the lead on Melky Cabrera’s RBI grounder in the eighth. Cabrera went 0-for-4 to end his nine-game hitting streak.
