Braves 2, Brewers 1: Left-hander Mike Minor allowed two hits and struck out four in 7 1/3 innings as host Atlanta won its fourth straight game and evened its record at 4-4.

Minor (1-1) rebounded nicely from his first start, when he allowed six runs in five innings against the Mets. He retired 18 consecutive batters after allowing a single in the first inning and gave way to reliever Jonny Venters after Jonathan Lucroy’s one-out single. The Brewers scored on a throwing error, but Venters struck out Rickie Weeks with runners at second and third to end the threat.

Craig Kimbrel pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his fourth save. It wasn’t easy as he loaded the bases with one out before striking out pinch-hitter George Kottaras and Mat Gamel to hand Milwaukee its third straight loss.

Atlanta scored both runs in the second inning, one on Ryan Braun's throwing error and the other on a double by Juan Francisco, who drove in his first run as a Brave. The runs came off starter and loser Shaun Marcum (1-1), who allowed only three hits and struck out six in seven innings and absorbed his first career loss to Atlanta.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Atlanta’s Jason Heyward got his first career hit against Marcum, ending an 0-for-6 streak. Heyward has a four-game hitting streak. ... Chipper Jones sat out his second straight game. The veteran’s knee, which required arthroscopic surgery during spring training, was sore and the Braves didn’t want to take any chances. ... Atlanta’s Freddie Freeman struck out three times.
