Blue Jays 12, Marlins 5: Jose Bautista hit his 23rd home run and Brett Lawrie had three hits and scored four times as visiting Toronto used a balanced attack to rout struggling Miami.

Every Blue Jays starter scored or drove in a run - including starter Ricky Romero (8-1), who gave his beleaguered bullpen a break with seven strong innings. Romero scattered four runs and seven hits as Toronto won for the fifth time in seven games.

Gaby Sanchez homered twice and Giancarlo Stanton also went deep for the Marlins, who have dropped 14 of 16 to fall four games below .500.

Lawrie was the catalyst for the Jays' early offense, tripling off Anibal Sanchez (3-6) to open the game and coming around to score on a Colby Rasmus groundout. Lawrie was in on the scoring again in the third, reaching on a leadoff single before advancing to second on a groundout and coming home on a Bautista single.

Kelly Johnson made it 3-0 with a sacrifice fly after an Edwin Encarnacion single moved Bautista to third.

Sanchez's control problems led to Toronto's three-run third, as the right-hander finished his outing with a bases-loaded walk to Bautista - Sanchez's fourth free pass of the game. Chad Gaudin came on in relief and promptly walked Encarnacion to make it 5-0.

Johnson's second sacrifice fly of the night extended the lead before Stanton finally put Miami on the board with a mammoth home run to left field in the bottom half of the frame.

Toronto broke it open with five runs in the sixth, highlighted by J.P. Arencibia's two-run double that dropped just inside the right-field line. Bautista added some insurance in the seventh with a line-drive blast to left field, tying him with Chicago's Adam Dunn for the major-league lead.

Sanchez was tagged for six runs on seven hits over 3 1/3 innings.
