Blue Jays 10, Brewers 9: Colby Rasmus and Jose Bautista hit back-to-back homers in the ninth inning for the second time in the contest as Toronto ended its 11-game losing streak in Milwaukee.
Rasmus and Bautista, along with Edwin Encarnacion, hit consecutive home runs off rookie Tyler Thornburg in the sixth to help the Blue Jays erase a 4-2 deficit. Aramis Ramirez gave the Brewers a 9-6 lead in the bottom of the inning with his 10th career grand slam, but Toronto flexed its muscles again in the ninth to even its record at 1-1 on its nine-game road trip.
John Axford (1-4), whose wife gave birth to the couple's second child earlier in the day, served up Rasmus' 12th blast of the season on a 3-1 pitch to tie the game. Bautista proceeded to launch a 3-1 offering deep to right field for his 22nd homer.
For Axford, it was his fourth blown save of the year and third in his last five opportunities.
Brett Lawrie belted a two-run shot in the third inning as the Blue Jays finished with six home runs, raising their season total to 100. They trail only the New York Yankees (101) for the major-league lead.
Darren Oliver (1-2) tossed a perfect eighth inning and Casey Janssen worked around a single in the ninth for his seventh save in eight chances.
Ryan Braun extended his hitting streak to 14 games with a single in the first inning for Milwaukee, which lost for just the second time in seven home contests.
GAME NOTEBOOK: When Rasmus, Bautista and Encarnacion went deep in the sixth, it marked the sixth time in Blue Jays history three players hit consecutive homers. ... Brewers C Jonathan Lucroy is scheduled to have the cast on his right hand removed Wednesday. Lucroy fractured the bone below his pinky finger, which will be examined by doctors, on May 27 and underwent surgery shortly thereafter. ... The Blue Jays could have another starting pitcher on the shelf for a long while. RHP Drew Hutchinson received a second opinion on his injured elbow and manager John Farrell said there was no new news to report, although Tommy John surgery is a possibility. "I'm not saying that's completely ruled out," Farrell said. RHP Kyle Drabek underwent the procedure on Tuesday.
