Rays 8, Blue Jays 5: Carlos Pena highlighted a five-run fourth inning with a three-run homer as Tampa Bay evened the three-game series.
Luke Scott and B.J. Upton also went deep while Elliot Johnson collected three hits for the Rays, who are 3-4 on their eight-game homestand.
After opening the scoring with a leadoff blast in the second, Scott began the fourth with a double and scored on newcomer Drew Sutton's two-base hit. Three batters later, Pena deposited a 2-0 offering from Toronto starter Drew Hutchison (3-2) over the wall in center field for his sixth homer of the year and a 6-0 lead.
Chris Gimenez drove in his second run of the game with a two-out single in the fifth and Upton launched a solo shot in the sixth to cap the scoring.
Wade Davis (1-0) notched the win in relief of starter Matt Moore, who yielded four runs - two earned - in 4 2/3 innings.
Davis surrendered a run and three hits in two frames and Fernando Rodney struck out two in a perfect ninth for his 14th save.
Hutchison allowed six runs and seven hits in four innings.
Jose Bautista went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Yan Gomes homered for the Blue Jays, who fell to 2-5 against the Rays this season.
GAME NOTEBOOK: First base umpire Andy Fletcher left the game in the fourth inning after being hit on the left arm by Brett Lawrie's line drive but returned for duty in the fifth. ... Sutton, who was acquired by the Rays from Pittsburgh on Monday, started at second base and went 2-for-4. ... Johnson's three-hit performance was the third of his career.
