Yankees 6, Blue Jays 0 (7): Mark Teixeira belted a two-run homer to highlight a four-run first inning and Hiroki Kuroda scattered four hits over seven frames as host New York completed a three-game sweep in a game called in the seventh due to rain.
Dewayne Wise drove in Jayson Nix twice and Nick Swisher and Andruw Jones had RBI singles for the Yankees, who completed a 5-1 homestand by defeating the Blue Jays for the eighth straight time in the Bronx.
Robinson Cano extended his career-high hitting streak to 21 games with a double in the first inning. Nix went 2-for-3 to improve to 5-for-7 in the series as New York won for the ninth time in 11 outings
To make matters worse for Toronto, third baseman Brett Lawrie suffered a right calf contusion while attempting to catch a foul ball in the third inning. Lawrie extended himself over a railing and into the camera well in his bid to catch Teixeira's pop up.
X-rays were negative and Lawrie is listed as day-to-day.
New York emphatically handed Ricky Romero (8-6) his career-high fifth straight loss after jumping on the struggling hurler in the first inning.
Derek Jeter led off with a double and scored on Swisher's single down the first-base line. Teixeira then deposited a sinker from Romero into the bullpen beyond the left-center field wall for his 19th homer -- and fifth in eight games.
Kuroda (9-7) avenged an 8-1 loss to Toronto on May 16 by striking out five -- including the side in the second inning.
