Rays 4, Yankees 3: A rare error by Mark Teixeira in the seventh inning allowed Tampa Bay to score the decisive run and extend its home winning streak against New York to eight games.

After the Yankees pulled ahead in the top of the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Curtis Granderson, Tampa Bay broke through for a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame against the New York bullpen. Pinch hitter Brooks Conrad tied the game at 3-3 with a two-out double to right against David Robertson (0-3), then scored the decisive run when Teixeira committed an error on a grounder by Elliot Johnson.

Matt Moore (5-5) got the win, allowing three runs on nine hits and three walks over seven innings. Joel Peralta worked a perfect eighth, and Fernando Rodney retired three consecutive Yankee pinch hitters in the ninth to collect his 23rd save in 24 chances.

New York took a 2-0 lead in the first inning when Teixeira doubled in a run and scored on a base hit by Robinson Cano. Solo home runs by B.J. Upton and Carlos Peña in the fourth and sixth innings, respectively, tied the game up.

Starter Freddy Garcia pitched 5 1/3 innings for the Yankees, allowing two runs on five hits. He struck out four.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Rays RF Hideki Matsui exited the game in the bottom of the second inning with apparent tightness in his left hamstring ... Teixeira had handled 663 straight chances without an error before Monday, more than twice as many as any other first baseman ... New York had won nine of its last 10 road games overall coming into Monday’s contest.
