Homer Bailey came off the disabled list and allowed one run over six innings in his season debut and Ryan Hanigan had three hits and drove in three runs as the Cincinnati Reds rolled to a 10-4 victory over the Houston Astros on Thursday afternoon.
Bailey (1-0), out with a shoulder injury, allowed four hits and a walk and struck out seven as Cincinnati won consecutive games and a series for the first time since April 11-12 at San Diego.
Hanigan gave the Reds an early 1-0 lead with an RBI single in the second and added a two-run single in the fourth for a 3-0 lead.
Fred Lewis provided the Reds a 6-1 lead with his first homer of the season in the sixth. Houston pulled within 6-4 with three runs in the seventh. Jason Bourgeois drew a bases-loaded walk and Hunter
Pence had a two-run single.
The Reds cushioned their lead with four runs in the eighth, highlighted by a solo homer by Jay Bruce and an RBI double by Drew Stubbs.
Houston starter Brett Myers (1-2) took the loss, allowing six runs on nine hits with three walks and four strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings. It was just the second start since the beginning of the 2010 season that Myers failed to last at least six frames.
