Endy Chavez had three hits and the Texas Rangers scored six runs in the second inning en route to a 9-1 victory over the host Oakland Athletics on Friday.
C.J. Wilson (11-5) gave up one run and four hits and struck out seven in six innings for his first victory since July 16 as Texas won for the fourth time in five games.
The Rangers jumped all over Brandon McCarthy (5-6) for six hits in the second as six different players drove in runs.
Nelson Cruz, Mitch Moreland and Yorvit Torrealba singled in runs before Chavez delivered a run-scoring double. Elvis Andrus singled home another and Josh Hamilton’s infield out concluded the uprising.
Ian Kinsler and Michael Young had RBI singles during Texas’ three-run fourth that increased the lead to 9-0.
Conor Jackson had a run-scoring double in the sixth for Oakland, which lost for only the second time in six games.
McCarthy allowed seven runs (five earned) and eight hits in 3 1/3 innings. He had won four straight decisions.
