Jhoulys Chacin pitched six strong innings for his third straight win and the Colorado Rockies used a five-run sixth inning to beat the visiting San Diego Padres 6-3 on Wednesday.

Chacin (8-4) strengthened his All-Star candidacy by giving up one run on three hits while striking out seven. Opponents are batting .189 against Chacin, who is tied with Tommy Hanson for first in the National League.

Every player in the Rockies’ starting lineup had at least one hit. The Rockies tallied seven singles in their five-run sixth inning, including pinch-hitter Ryan Spilborghs' two-run single off Chad Qualls.

Padres’ starter Mat Latos (4-8) allowed four runs on eight hits over 4 1/3 innings. The Padres are 5-13 in Latos’ last 18 starts.

Ty Wigginton's run-scoring single in the sixth inning gave him 10 RBIs in his last seven games. The Rockies' offense has been on a tear over those seven games with 43 runs scored.

Chris Denorfia knocked in two runs and Rob Johnson hit his second home run in the fifth inning for San Diego, which has scored 10 runs in its last six games.
