Jhoulys Chacin pitched six strong innings for his third straight win and the Colorado Rockies used a five-run sixth inning to beat the visiting San Diego Padres 6-3 on Wednesday.
Chacin (8-4) strengthened his All-Star candidacy by giving up one run on three hits while striking out seven. Opponents are batting .189 against Chacin, who is tied with Tommy Hanson for first in the National League.
Every player in the Rockies’ starting lineup had at least one hit. The Rockies tallied seven singles in their five-run sixth inning, including pinch-hitter Ryan Spilborghs' two-run single off Chad Qualls.
