Justin Upton singled in the winning run in the 11th inning to lift the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over the visiting Colorado Rockies on Thursday.
After hitting a solo homer late in Tuesday’s series opener to give the Diamondbacks a win, Upton came up with two outs and Chris Young on second. The young star pushed a single to right field, plating Young with the winning run.
Matt Belisle (2-2) gave up the hit and was saddled with the loss while David Hernandez (2-0) picked up the win.
The Rockies took a 2-0 lead into the ninth but Huston Street failed to lock down the save, allowing solo blasts to Gerardo Parra and Young to force extra innings.
Jason Hammel started for the Rockies and had a tremendous effort squandered by the bullpen. The righthander worked seven scoreless frames and has dominated lately, allowing a total of two runs in 20 2/3 innings over his last three starts.
Ian Kennedy was sharp on the other side, scattering six hits and two runs in six innings.
