Miguel Cairo's RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning propelled the Cincinnati Reds to a 4-3 victory over the Washington Nationals on Friday.
Drew Stubbs began the winning sequence with a one-out single against Collin Balester (1-2) and moved to second on a base hit by Todd Frazier. Cairo drove a 1-0 pitch deep into center field to seal the win for Francisco Cordero (5-3), who held the Nationals scoreless in the top half.
Wilson Ramos gave the Nationals a 3-1 lead in the fourth with a three-run homer to right against Dontrelle Willis.
Brandon Phillips got the Reds within a run with his second RBI single of the game in the sixth, and Frazier tied it in the seventh with a base hit to center.
Willis allowed three runs, six hits and five walks in seven innings.
Washington starter Chien-Ming Wang allowed two runs (one earned), six hits and four walks in six innings.
