Lance Berkman's bloop single scored Matt Holliday in the top of the 11th inning as the St. Louis Cardinals ended the Milwaukee Brewers' seven-game winning streak with an 8-7 victory Tuesday.

Holliday reached on a two-out infield hit and stole second, his first steal this season.

St. Louis starter Jaime Garcia blasted his first career homer, a three-run shot into the second deck in right as the Cardinals moved back to 2 1/2 games behind the first-place Brewers in the National League Central.

The game was marred by a pair of high-profile hit-by-pitches. After Albert Pujols was hit in the seventh, Cardinals reliever Jason Motte responded by drilling Ryan Braun in the back in the bottom half after missing him with the previous pitch.

Garcia's homer gave St. Louis a 6-3 lead in the fourth before Milwaukee responded with four runs in the fifth, capped by Yuniesky Betancourt’s three-run homer.

Cardinals shortstop Rafael Furcal sent the game to extra innings when he robbed Felipe Lopez with an over-the-shoulder catch in short left with two on and two out in the ninth.

Octavio Dotel got the final two outs for his second save as the Cardinals ended a six-game losing streak in Milwaukee dating to last season.

St. Louis catcher Yadier Molina was ejected in the 10th by home plate umpire Rob Drake for arguing balls and strikes. Molina appeared to bump Drake and spit in his face as he was yelling at him.
