Yovani Gallardo pitched seven strong innings to lead the Milwaukee Brewers to their fifth straight win, 6-2 over the visiting Houston Astros on Saturday night.
Gallardo (12-7), who also doubled and scored on Nyjer Morgan's RBI single in the third, struck out seven without a walk and allowed four hits. By the time he yielded his lone run on an RBI single by Angel Sanchez in the sixth, the Brewers had already spotted him a 5-0 lead.
Corey Hart's solo home run in the first gave Milwaukee the lead for good against J.A. Happ (4-13) and Jonathan Lucroy's two-run double highlighted a three-run fifth that opened with an error by Sanchez. Hart finished with four hits.
Prince Fielder added a solo homer in the seventh for the Brewers. Fielder and Lucroy each had three hits.
Happ gave up five runs (two earned) on 10 hits over five innings and struck out six.
