Dustin Moseley pitched seven strong innings for his first win since May 1, leading San Diego to a 3-1 home win over Houston on Friday night.
Moseley (2-6) struck out five while holding the Astros to one run on six hits. Mike Adams pitched a perfect eighth inning to hold the lead for Heath Bell, who picked up his 15th save of the year.
San Diego took a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning when Ryan Ludwick singled in a run and scored on a double by Aaron Cunningham. Chris Denorfia added a solo home run in the fifth against Astros starter J.A. Happ (3-7), who allowed six hits in six innings.
Houston's Hunter Pence extended his hitting streak to 15 games with a first-inning single. J.R. Towles drove in the lone run for the Astros with a fourth-inning sacrifice.
Padres manager Bud Black was ejected in the fourth inning for arguing balls and strikes with home plate umpire Greg Gibson.
