Lance Berkman singled to center with the bases loaded in the ninth inning as the St. Louis Cardinals swept their two-game series against the visiting Philadelphia Phillies with a 2-1 triumph Tuesday.

Yadier Molina went 3-for-4 with an RBI single and three-time National League MVP Albert Pujols also had three hits for St. Louis.

Fernando Salas (2-0) tossed one scoreless inning in relief of Jaime Garcia, who yielded one run on five hits in eight innings. The 24-year-old Mexican has permitted two runs in his last three starts.

St. Louis loaded the bases with three consecutive singles to lead off the ninth against Danys Baez (1-2). After Matt Holliday grounded into a fielder's choice, Berkman singled to center off J.C. Romero.

The Cardinals opened the scoring in the fourth when Berkman walked, advanced to second on Allen Craig's single to center and just beat the throw from John Mayberry Jr. to score on Molina's base hit to shallow left.

Placido Polanco plated Jimmy Rollins with a sacrifice fly in the eighth for National League-East leading Philadelphia, which has dropped a season-high four straight and scored only seven runs in that span.

Roy Oswalt, making his first start since April 26, received a no-decision after permitting one run on seven hits in five innings.
