Ryan Braun drove in two runs - including the go-ahead sacrifice fly in a three-run 12th inning - and the visiting Milwaukee Brewers ended a three-game losing streak with a 6-3 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday.
Yuniesky Betancourt added a pair of RBIs and Carlos Gomez also drove in a run for Milwaukee (8-8), which picked up a much-needed win after being swept in Washington over the weekend.
Rickie Weeks sparked the winning rally by drawing a leadoff walk from Kyle Kendrick (0-1), the Phillies’ sixth reliever. Kendrick’s throwing error on a bunt by Gomez put runners on the corners for Braun, who plated Weeks with a long sacrifice fly to center field.
Kendrick unraveled quickly. In addition to his throwing error, he hit Prince Fielder and uncorked a wild pitch. Betancourt and Jonathan Lucroy also drove in runs in the 12th.
Brandon Kintzler (1-0), the Brewers’ sixth reliever, threw the final two innings for his first major league win.
Shane Victorino, Ryan Howard and Pete Orr each drove in a run for Philadelphia (10-5).
The Phillies tied the game at 3 in the ninth with their first earned run of the game as Carlos Ruiz drew a leadoff walk from John Axford and later scored on Orr’s pinch-hit single. It was Axford's second blown save of the season.
