Ryan Howard belted a three-run home run and Roy Oswalt worked six solid innings against his former teammates as the Philadelphia Phillies completed a three-game sweep of the visiting Houston Astros with a 7-3 win Sunday afternoon.
Howard went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and Ben Francisco homered and had three hits for the Phillies, who scored 16 runs on 27 hits in the final two games of the series.
Oswalt (1-0) allowed two runs on five hits – three to Hunter Pence – in six innings, striking out six and walking one to improve to 8-1 as a Phillie.
Sent to Philadelphia at last year's trade deadline after 10 seasons with the Astros, Oswalt was staked to a 4-0 first-inning lead on Howard's three-run blast and Francisco's solo shot off Bud Norris (0-1), who yielded five runs and six hits in four innings.
Philly's Big 3 of Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee and Oswalt allowed a combined six runs in 19 innings, fanning 23 and walking one in the sweep.
Pence had a solo homer and two singles off Oswalt, who won his last seven regular-season decisions with the Phillies a year ago.
