Chris Capuano pitched six scoreless innings before leaving with an injury and Jose Reyes drove in a pair of runs as the New York Mets waited out a lengthy rain delay to beat the Oakland Athletics, 4-1, on Thursday afternoon.
Reyes also scored his National League-leading 56th run for the Mets, who have won two in a row after losing four of five.
Capuano (6-7) held Oakland to five hits and struck out seven before exiting with discomfort on the right side of his abdomen. The lefthander, who improved to 3-4 at home this year, has allowed two earned runs or less in each of his last four starts and eight of his last 10 outings.
.
Reyes gave New York a 2-0 lead with an RBI single off Graham Godfrey (1-1) in the second and capitalizing on first baseman Chris Carter's dropped foul pop for another run. Carter had entered the game as a defensive replacement earlier in the inning.
Francisco Rodriguez worked a perfect ninth for his 20th save in 23 opportunities
Coco Crisp lifted a sacrifice fly for Oakland, which has lost 17 of its last 21 road games.
