After having their last 17 batters retired to end Saturday's contest, the Mets erupted right out of the gate on Sunday. New York went through the lineup in the first inning and finished the second with a total of eight runs on 10 hits.
Staked to a comfortable lead, Jonathon Niese (4-5) allowed just one unearned run on five hits in 6 1/3 innings to secure his first win in three outings against the Phillies this season.
Raul Ibanez belted a solo homer and Dane Sardinha had an RBI double and scored twice for National League-leading Philadelphia, which suffered its third setback in 10 outings.
Vance Worley (2-1) permitted eight runs on 12 hits in three innings to take the loss. The 23-year-old California native entered the contest having yielded five runs in as many appearances this season.
