The Houston Astros became the latest visitor to make themselves right at home at Citi Field, beating the New York Mets 6-1 on Tuesday night.
Wandy Rodriguez (1-2) allowed just one run on three hits and struck out seven in seven innings as Houston (6-11) picked up its second road win.
Four Astros recorded two hits a piece, and Angel Sanchez’s two-run RBI single in the seventh off the majors second-worst bullpen gave Houston a five-run cushion. A scoreless inning of relief each from Fernando Abad and Jeff Fulchino sealed the victory.
Jonathon Niese (0-3) had his best start of the season, allowing two earned runs on seven hits with five walks in six innings, but it still wasn’t enough for New York (5-12), which fell to 1-7 at home.
Carlos Beltran’s solo shot in the seventh was the Mets’ lone run and the outfielder’s third of the season.
