Dillon Gee threw six solid innings and David Wright had two hits and two RBIs to help the New York Mets finish a doubleheader sweep with a 5-1 win over the Florida Marlins on Monday night at Citi Field.
The Marlins had won all four meetings in New York this season before the Mets won the opener of the five-game series 2-1 on Monday afternoon.
Gee (12-5) picked up where R.A. Dickey left off in the early game, allowing one run and two walks while striking out six.
The Mets took the lead with two runs in the sixth on RBI singles by Angel Pagan and Willie Harris, and they added insurance runs on Wright's RBI double in the seventh and Mike Nickeas' RBI single in the eighth.
The Marlins' lone run came on Greg Dobbs' homer in the sixth, his sixth of the season. Both of Florida's runs in the doubleheader came on solo homers.
Mets shortstop Jose Reyes (hamstring) was activated from the disabled list and played for the first time since Aug. 7. He went 1-for-4 and scored a run.
